My mission is to normalize healthy eating and reclaim the narrative around health through the exploration, innovation, and economic development of food culture centered on food history, nutritional healing and social justice.
The art of food is about celebrating artistic expression through culinary arts and digging deep into the techniques and history that allow us to grow as professional chefs and foodies. We heal by expressing ourselves through the way we prepare food. Find your voice through your own cooking.
The Healthy Roots Institute is about holistic healing through the love of food. Food touches every part of our lives—it nourishes us physically, comforts us emotionally, and influences us mentally. Food is embedded in our spiritual customs. It reflects our society and culture. We build connections and nurture relationships through food.
We work to build a food economy where there are flourishing food restaurants and businesses—especially run by African American entrepreneurs—that truly support the people behind them. I consult with businesses to help them build operations and educate through classes at Neighborhood Development Center.
